skeleton theme post

I've been doing lots of skeleton related drawings.

Edgar on a throne of bones. I regret that the one time I got this image on paper properly, it had to be sketchbook paper :[ I liked my sketch too much to stop working on it.

I was playing with wire and trying to make a cat skeleton but I got bored of fiddling with it. So it is now a partial body for my magpie skull.

Cardboard croc! I referenced a picture of a massive prehistoric crocodile skull, but it's probably about regular crocodile sized. I used this as a final project in a class that was a total joke. The teacher only showed up to hand out marks and papers with the next project on them.
I drew this big crocodile because it was cool and I felt like drawing it. OK thanks for the A and for taking my time and money.

misc doodles

Hope everybody had a merry Christmas! It went by like a blur for me.
I've been knitting my face off these past few weeks, just trying to get some basic techniques down. I made a hat and a scarf but I don't have pictures cause I gave them away as gifts. I've also taken up snowboard which has been fun but seriously painful to learn. Oh, my aching groin... I must persevere!

A comic with Shirley and Patches, sketches of Bridget and Lynn, and some freaky kid swearing vengeance for whatever reason.

Doodle page and some character notes.

princess of cats

As I might have mentioned here and there, I'm reworking the "Ziether" comics I used to draw. "Beatrice, Princess of Cats!" is a series I've been planning for a while, and I want to get some comics drawn over this winter break. Here's some art related to that:

glass

I'm done this semester as of yesterday, woohoo! I really loved the 3D stuff I got to make, I'm kinda sad that my classes are all drawing-based next semester. Anyway, here's some of my favourite glass work:

My greatest feat was the fishbowl. It's hard to get it big enough without it collapsing in the heat! This was my third attempt and even it had a fault (a big leaky crack through the bottom, but I sealed it up). My fish isnt very photogenic, but he's happy in his new place, trust me.

I'm thinking I should keep going with it. I want to take another class next year. I could become a veritable bongsmith with practice.

little book

Heyhey, just finishing up some final projects here and I'm done this semester. Holidays are coming close, but this year I'm trying my best to give something hand-made to all of my family. I've been very busy making things. Also, I just bought an old rental snowboard for fifty bucks! I am an inch closer to enjoying winter now.

These scans are from a little handmade book that I'm in the midst of filling with doodles and junk :D

back to the blog

Alright, let's bump those old posts a little further down the page. I did a little work on the layout today, but nothing big. Just recycling drawings and using fonts to make my graphics since I'm still out a tablet.

Here's some plushy stuff!

long time no see

It lives! I am here to revive this blog. It's been about half a year since I posted here, but I'm growing to like the idea of keeping an art blog going more than making regular posts to deviantart where everything I do gets a rating in favourites. I prefer a more personal showcase for my art anyway, and I think this place will be good for that.

I'll get to work on personalizing my page sometime. For now, I'll dump some sketches here.

notdrawings

A sculpture I made out of glass objects for a school project

Slurm stool! This time I used spray paint. Not done with the legs because I ran out of paint. I shouldn't have used spray paint on such a windy day, I think most of it ended up in the air :(
I also drew some bees on the honeycomb stool with paint markers

More paint marker doodling over the beetle stencil I posted earlier.

Quick oil painting I did today. An abstract cityscape.

nothing much

Just a small update. I've been having art block recently, so I decided to try something new today. Here's my first attempt at a stencil. I just cut it out of cardboard and tested it on a spare piece of board. I'd like to try more with spray paint.

done it myself

I picked this wooden stool up at value village the other day and gave it a bumblebee paint job! Man, thrift store stuff gets my imagination going quick. I also got a variety of cool glass receptacles that I want to assemble for a "found object" sculpture project. Don't know exactly how it will go but I'm sure I'll have fun with that :>

And, as you may or may not know (I can't remember where I've posted about this or not), we have a new puppy! Here's a few pics of Napoleon from today. He's growing fast!

Nobody pays me to make sense

1- ink and coloured pencil experiment. "Two Ghosts"
2- a pretty stupid drawing of Bea's persian cat Vortex whose face has a magnetic pull!
3- Bridget - character concept for another of Anthony's co-workers. I'm not quite sure what spawned the whole mutant bellhop idea...
